Topi What a pleasant surprise, after all these years, a new album from Alix! I fell in love with their "Ground" while have merely liked the gentler and softer "Good 1". Besides standing firmly on its own, Last Dreamer has some familiar vibes from those previous albums, leaning more towards Ground. Excellent!!

ALiX are back with a magical new album, Last Dreamer, out November 25, 2022 via Go Down Records:

Dismissing their opening track’s title, ALiX seem they indeed want to go back to the crime scene, well pleased to melt in the acid blood of their own previous collisions. If anything is altered, they are the doses of the magic potion for sure: their massive stoner lays down the clubs, diving deadweight into a dirty and heavy psychedelia, framed by Paolo Massagli’s sinister cover artwork.
Before drowning, their ‘heavy’ roots find time to cling to rough garage-rock anyway (the title track), alternative 90s vibes (Ride Your Light, Sweetly Waiting) and bluesy temptations (Empty Space).
The hypnagogic voice of Alice Albertazzi stands out thinly, a lysergic siren repeating verses as if she was the victim of her own spell, dissolving the words in a lava stream that flows downstream with rainbow reflections.
Methadone for dreamers at the last stage, almost three lustra after Good One.

Sconfessando il titolo della prima traccia, gli ALiX sembrano aver voglia eccome di tornare sulla scena del delitto, ben contenti di impiastricciarsi nel sangue acido dei precedenti tamponamenti. A essere alterate, semmai, sono le dosi dell’intruglio: il loro massiccio stoner depone le mazze, tuffandosi a peso morto in una psichedelia sporca e pesante, incorniciata dalla sinistra copertina di Paolo Massagli.
Prima di annegare, trova comunque il tempo di aggrapparsi a ruvidi scogli garage (la title track), a vibrazioni “alternative” novantiane (Ride Your Light, Sweetly Waiting) e a tentazioni “bluesy” (Empty Space).
Svetta esile la voce ipnagogica di Alice Albertazzi, sirena lisergica che ripete versi come fosse vittima del suo stesso sortilegio, dissolvendo le parole in un torrente lavico che scorre a valle con riflessi arcobaleno.
Metadone per sognatori all’ultimo stadio, a quasi tre lustri da Good One.
